June 21  ~  10:30 PM

#202 is live. Overlord hits store shelves in five days. I am having a hard time convincing others (mainly my friends) to care about my comic. Despite this, they are truly awesome people and I thank them whole-hartedly for making my so-called life seem so much better by comparison. Thank you. That is all.

June 13  ~  8:00 PM

This is a test of the new, simultaneously more and less-cluttered frontpage. Your words on the left, mine on the right. I could really use a sidebar... but that is for another day. Comic will be up as soon as possible - ditto for the stuff I mentioned in the last rant. I swear the Guestbook is borked, but it works when I test it...

June 9  ~  3:00 PM

I don't care if the server is working or not; I'm going to keep ranting. I've spent today reminiscing, listening to my friend's piano music and songs from high school choir concerts. Plus, a bit of sprite-ripping here and there. The next bunch of comics are taking place inside the mall, so it'll take me a good deal of effort and luck to find enough fitting backgrounds. Lastly, I've updated my Archive, Links and Storyline Selector. Oh, and the legal crap down at the bottom. Those who find reading it interesting, I pity you. Those who make reading it interesting, I salute you.

June 6  ~  9:00 PM

It seems ComicGenesis is backed up quite a bit. This is a relief for me - clogged is MUCH better than borked. As for the comic, I've made it to 200 (woo!) but I'm still on Yellow Alert (emphaszed by the new music) for I am still eight strips short. Gaming-wise, I got 100% completion on Mischief Makers, so it's probably time to dust off my copy of FFXII. Finally... I've taken some flack for the music attached to my pages, since they start up automatically and can't be controlled. A nifty set of "songbars" are on the way!

May 30  ~  10:00 PM

Oh dear... I may have to bring out the placeholders once again. This does not bode well... not well at all. Only a few internet projects remain, and there is very little stopping me from getting them done. I managed to send off some fanart to Tip of the Sword today... but I know I can work faster than this. I can't promise tomorrow will be a full-on ED-day, but I do know I'll be starting my day rediculously early, so perhaps that alone can motivate me.

May 21  ~  9:00 AM

The weekend was pure awesome. I didn't get to see Shrek 3 on opening night as planned, so I shall relay the description put by my super-awesome friend: it apparently does not live up to the hype. Picture unusually intelligent jokes and political humor mixing with sugar-coated kiddy morals. I guess I'll save the 8 bux and watch the trailer a couple more times. As for comics... it's still being pushed aside in favor of jorbhunting (read: MapleStory). Fortunately, ComicGenesis's recent bork-up did not affect my updates.

May 12  ~  5:00 PM

Metal Gear Solid 2 has me hooked. That's right - I've never played it until yesterday. And boy oh boy am I hooked. I'm tempted to do MGS-themed filler, that's how hooked I am. I've got espionage on the brain... and there's no hiding that. So instead of a comic, you have me "Snake-ing around" for three hours. At this point, I figure an actual update would literally make a red exclamation point sprout from your head. So... try me tomorrow.

May 5  ~  8:00 PM

Not a whole lot of development, comic-wise. So I guess all I can do is rant. First, the latest Subway commercial is friggin' hilarious. "Instead of the blubber, I'd like the thunder thighs and the badonkadonk butt." Next, there are rumors that two comics I really like are going on hiatus for most of the summer. This does NOT make sense. Summer is when we get the MOST free time, so logically it's the best time for the MOST updates. Yes, myself included. I'm sure once I've locked in next year's housing and a job (or two) for this summer, I can work double updates around that. I'm thinking Wednesday-Saturday.

April 30  ~  7:30 PM

Urgh... I'm exhausted. I've officially gotten a "job" as Editor/Panel Designer of Everyday Lizard. I've also discovered a loophole-type thing to getting direct links to images to show up. So look forward to a new Extras page with plenty of bandwidth-friendly thumbnails... tomorrow? I'm also working on retro-fixing my early comics so that the text stands out better but the bubbles still count as transparent. I hoped I would never have to do this, but I'm pretty sure my future fanbase depends on it.

April 28  ~  8:00 PM

I've been feeling really motivated today... just not to do comics. Word on the street is there's a crossover in the works... or maybe jus more fanart. I've been drawing quite spontaneously lately... perhaps if I focus this creative storm, I could create a whole comic for someone else. Granted, it would be done by cloning their style. I can do this quite well, for I have not drawn enough to claim my own style. It is my gift... and my curse. But sprite stuff still rocks too! For proof, check out A Modest Destiny and Heroes Inc.!

April 22  ~  8:30 PM

Comic today for reals. Just like I said. You'll have to go to the Extras page to find it. Interesting how I can't find the motivation to crank out a three-panel ED comic but I can produce a completely improvised one that's four times as long.

April 21  ~  7:30 PM

I know you're all sick and tired of these delays, so here's the skinny. I finished my essays with plenty of time to spare, spent pretty much all of Friday binge-gaming, and spent all of today visiting family and friends. I am so happy right now, and I can't wait to share this happy with all of you. Unfortunately, I can't because I am also so exhausted right now. Comic tomorrow for reals.

April 15  ~  12:00 PM

I don't wanna waste time, I don't wanna work. I don't wanna waste time, I don't wanna work.
I don't wanna waste time, I don't wanna work. I don't wanna waste time, I don't wanna work.

April 10  ~  12:00 PM

OK, really late update, but really valid excuse. The weekend was just... seven shades of messed up. I don't want my emo-ness to leak over into the comic-world I have here, but I will say I felt that way, and I had a good reason to. But I've moved away from my (manipulative jerk) roomate for the remainder of the semester now, and things are looking up. My own sanity has top priority, followed by my studies and then the comic. It's rough, but that's the way it is. Can't wait for summer. I'll settle for better weather.

April 1  ~  4:00 PM

Today is my berfday. (Yay.) Not like I expect anyone outside my extended family to care. On a completely unrelated note, I've come down with the worst case of laziness I've had for... a year at least. I'm more worried about the timing than the degree of laziness. Big stuff needs doing, and I need to start doing it NOW. Yet it feels like I'm mentally pulling my own dead weight. "Does getting it done involve more than saying I'm gonna get it done?" "YES!" "Screw that." "Blargh!"

March 24  ~  4:00 PM

Oh crud, it's Saturday once again and I haven't a thing with which to appease the restless natives! Auf... yeah. Not feeling too good. No, not illin', just bummed that I can't get things done. CURSE MapleStory! (Even though my LV-36 HasteSin is pretty much made of win) ESSAYS NAO!! THEN shopping. THEN comic. And by "comic" I mean "New OOC edition to Extras page."

March 17  ~  4:00 PM

As evidenced by the lack of a new comic, it seems I'm falling behind once again. But like they say. "hard work pays off later, laziness pays off now" and I'm sure livin' up the instant gratification. I've been introduced to F@nboy$ and the DM of the Rings, and they are both quite a hoot. Re-introductions to my Chemistry and Writing homework... aren't going so well. As promised, the Extras page is up and running, and I'll have a button for it soon. Then of course, I'll be completely out of button-room.

March 13  ~  2:00 PM

Ever wonder why it's so hard to get motivated? Here's why: the part of the brain responsible for connecting desire to motivation (the ventral striata) does not kick into high gear until one's early twenties. That's why so many teenagers are essentially saying "I want it bad, so bad, really bad, but not bad enough to earn it." I can see the completion of so many projects stuck on my back burner, I can see so much gold at the end of the rainbow... but I just can't bridge the gap. Fhtagn! It's irritating. If I can't get motivated by sheer willpower (everything I've done up till now is pretty much luck) there's a good chance I can connect it to hunger. The desire to act should have a physical counterpart, since I'm already so good at following my natural urges. When I'm hungry, I eat. When I'm not hungry, I stop eating. (That's just as important.) When I'm illin', I thank Science for modern medicine. But because I'm so attuned to my primal self, the times I spend illin' are few and far between. I'm sure of it. So if I can make the desire to draw as strong as the desire to eat, I'll become a true "starving artist!"

March 10  ~  7:00 PM

All is quiet on the home front. Reducing my time in front of the compy for this week was easy - not regretting it is the hard part. It seems Rob and Elliot is on hiatus this month. My favorite comics are dropping like flies! (T_T)  I've beat the heck out of Twilight Princess, and am currently replaying Metroid Prime since I never really finished it before my memory card got wiped. I'll try to bring up a comic tonight. I know this seems lazy, but all the effort I'm used to putting into ED comics went into yet another OOC comic just last night. See, I'm used to three panels a week (Laaaazy) and this was fifteen. Totally worth it, though. I know I spent more time in that I should have and needed to, but I wanted it to look perfect. I'll make it available here... um... next week.

March 2  ~  12:00 PM

My mind is all over the place today. Probably because I'm leaving for home for spring break tomorrow morning. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself. I've got the jitters figuring out how to spend the rest of my time here, but they're the good kind of jitters. I'm afraid that an ED comic is simply not in that list, but I figure I can bring everything I need for comic-making hove via flash drive, and then I'll have plenty of time. Also, a big jaw drop to the two guys behind Tip of the Sword, who have apparently gone their seperate ways. I gotta draw something representing this. I just gotta.

February 24  ~  2:30 PM

Happy belated berfday to Jerry of SoMT! In other news, I'm feeling better than I did last weekend, but I can't get on a new comic right away. The interview went along smoothly, and I hope to havea transcript available soon. It will count as a Frequently Asked Questions section, because even though they weren't specifically asked, the answers were directed at a bunch of people. Don't ask me how many a "bunch" is.
Also, Alvin Earthworm is a Flash GOD. His "Super Mario Bros. Z" series is the best ever. His shorts rock too.

February 16  ~  2:30 PM

I'm not feeling good today. I don't know if I'm officially sick, or if my insides are just having a civil war. My legs are quite weak, and anything other thn sitting down triggers an almost-queasy feeling. Plus, considering what little I've eaten over the past 16 hours, I should be starving, but I'm not. SoMT is now updating regularly (even daily!) but no new animations yet. I've been making comics every week for a contest of sorts - maybe one day they'll wind up here on an "Extras" page. Also, I'm being interviewed on Sunday for a campus radio show. Wooooo.

February 10  ~  6:00 PM

I have a Wii. 'Nuff said. OK... maybe not enough. I hear a good friend of mine is visiting campus this weekend, but I have yet to get any calls on my cell. So without those kind of distractions, I've spent a fair portion of today squandering away my time on Twilight Princess. Don't bother spoiling the ending for me, I've already seen it. No, I haven't been spending that much time on it. Cripes, you make it sound like I have no life.

Oh, right, the comic. ... ... Yeah, I guess I can put one up tonight. I'm in a good mood. OH! Speaking of good moods, read Rob and Elliot. It is seriously the BEST "Two Guys" comic on the internets. (But these two guys are fantastic as well.) It is, essentially, the polar opposite of Something Positive. Sure, mature topics are covered sometimes, but always in a lighthearted way. Not a single comic leaves one depressed, but a few might make you go "o_0". Plus, the art style makes me think of FullMetal Alchemist, so props for that.

February 3  ~  12:30 AM

My life seriously needs an Easy button right now. It's like... I just can't fit everything I want to do into one day. That's probably because I squander the first half of the day on potentially endless things that produce a minimal sense of accomplishment, like Maple Story. But part of my  world philosophy is "everyone's addicted to something." It's how we're able to focus on things we don't necessarily like doing. It gives us some control of our adrenaline. It's kinda like when George Carlin (or some other satirist) said "we are all born with cancer." Technically that's true. Cancer is essentially the growth of cells - without it we'd all be... well... really tiny.

Now I feel like explaining why I feel so crappy. Thing is, just after I walked for fifteen minutes through a blizzard to get home from the campus rec center, I realized I left my keyring at the rec center. This only could have happened by the keys sliding out of my big baggy pants pocket (the pants are fantastic save this one flaw) and I forget to check the chair when I leave. So I had to walk all the way there and back again through the same, increasingly snowy weather. This may have an impact on my weekend travel plans. The good news is all this walking may give my legs macho strength and a look to match. The bad news is... they may just freeze and fall right off first.

This is my website, I'll rant how I want. But since you made it down here, you deserve to know that I can likely catch up the comicking this afternoon. That's right, I said this afternoon. Check the timestamp again.

January 27  ~  1:30 PM

The good news: I cranked out three comics yesterday, one of which is chock full of special effects and animation. If I make at least two more today, I'm golden. The bad news: ...uh... I can't think of any at the moment so how about some more good news. I'll be visiting my parents today - I know they've just been aching to see me again, being parents and all. I've also completely lost interest in FFXII in favor of (gasp!) Maple Story. Yeah, it's cutesy, but I'm tired of Titan Quest and this is the next best thing (hack and slash and level up) until the expansion is released in March. Come to think of it... the only PC game I'm actually looking forward to these days is Spore, and that's not coming out till, like, Winter. What's up with that? Well... Maple Story is free, and the latest issue of Games For Windows lists over 100 more, so that should hold me. Oh, I almost forgot. Next time you're in Broa, give a shout-out to Jackelo.

January 20  ~  10:00 AM

After relentlessly spriting and animating for three (or was it four?) days, I have totally revamped the Cast page! It now includes everyone that's ever shown up in the comic... and a few that haven't! Perhaps today I can take on the actual comic-making with the same enthusiasm and determination.

January 13  ~  1:00 PM

I think I'm spending too much time in front of the compy. Could make my eyes worse than they already are. Staring at ANY big light for hours on end, many days a week... can't be good. I mean... artificial light has only been around for about a century. No way our eyes have perfectly adapted yet. I wonder how people who live in Vegas handle it. In other news, I figured out why I can't draw as much as I'd like to. It's because drawing good is HARD. Quality can't be churned out in 5-10 minutes, which is the most time I like to devote to a single drawing. But my good buddy has this PS1 game "Battle Hunter" that I'm hooked on. I tried a couple single-player missions, since multiplayer had become really easy for me. Sunce much of the game's movement and fighting mechanics are based on luck, I expected it to be easy but found it nearly impossible. Sure I was frustrated, but I didn't quit. Failure was NOT an option, mostly becuse the only thing lost was time. Then it hit me. In order to become as focused in drawing as I do in gaming, I have to trick my brain into believing good art is really easy to make. The hard part will be preventing myself from starting over after 10 minutes of "failing."
Finally, the comic. It'll probably be up tomorrow (gotta fit homework in sometime!) as well as a much-needed update to the Archive and a complete revamp of the Cast page. Tip of the Sword is now hosting fanart by me! (I wish I could get fanart...)

January 6, 2007  ~  4:00 PM

Up to #184 now. All in all, I think I did good. Don't expect much action in the coming strips... well, this was never much of an action-oriented comic anyway. Still without a Wii, and I can't even land a DS. Real rough luck on that front. I return to campus tomorrow (almost returned today) and then it's back to the grindstone. But I'm rested up and totally ready.

January 1, 2007  ~  8:00 PM

What a year it's been, huh? Lots and lots of fond memories... Starting yesterday, my burning desire to load up on Wii stuff (yes, I still don't have one) decreased quite a bit, as well as the interest to game a lot in general. Well... maybe that's because I got a fair amount of game time in while hanging with our neighbors in Florida. But I didn't feel the urge to overdo it, nor do I feel I have to catch up for a week without FFXII. I figure if I can't get a Wii within the next week, I'll snag a DS instead. As for the VGC contest, it seems I didn't even get top 25. Maybe I shoulda gone for humor. Oh well. My entry, as well as at least three comics, will be up tomorrow. Tonight, I read more of Something Positive, which does not resemble my comic in any way.

December 20  ~  6:00 PM

#179 is up for reals now, so check it out. Meanwhile, Tip of the Sword is cranking out comics like mad, I entered the VG Cats Holiday contest, my Guestbook spam-chain is now 15 and growing until a real fan writes in, and I still don't have a Wii. Over the next week I won't have internet access (family vacation tradition), and I can't even guarantee I'll fully catch up on the comic-making. Umm... if I happened to win the VGC contest... there's absolutely no way I can know until New Year's Day.

December 18  ~  2:00 PM

Mmmmm... yeah. Home for the holidays. FFXII's still got me hooked. Doing what I can to keep from drifting and being unproductive. I'm sure I'll get a creative wave soon. Almost time to start writing new scripts. Floating is a completely new storyline. Anyone see "Lost Room" the SciFi miniseries? That was awesome, and what I'm thinking about is objects of power similar to those... but there aren't so many, they just look like big gems, and... I had this idea before Lost Room, OK?

December 13  ~  6:00 PM

Alright, time to stop being gullible. The guestbook is cursed, and there's not a darn thing I can do about it. Well, it is free, after all. From this point forward, all anonymous entries will be removed until Lycos fixes their spamblocker. Seriously, if you don't care enough to leave a name (or an alias I would know you better by), then you don't care enough about my comic, and I don't care about you. As for the rest of my adoring fans, here's ED #178, and feel free to speak up in the guestbook and/or the forum.

December 9  ~  2:00 PM

I've got all my work done. All that remains is studying for finals. I can't say whether or not there will be a comic update today, only that there is not one now. I'm a bit tired, for an art project threw off my sleep schedule. A disaster combined with a lack of a "running backup" made it take two hours longer than it should. After next week I'll have a great deal of free time. Also, a lot of people have written nice things in my guestbook recently, which is fantastic. Not sure why they don't bother to leave names, though...

December 2  ~  4:00 PM

I've decided to deviate from the current storyline. Well, I'd have to do it eventually, and sooner makes more sense than later. What's Kevin been up to all this time? Now you'll know. At least... you will when I can get around to making the comic, when I get this essay out of the way.

November 30  ~  12:00 PM

There is a phrase I hear all the time (at least in my head) these days. It goes "In college there are three essentials - good grades, a social life, and sleep. Pick two." And I sure haven't been leaning toward the first one. The cumulative GPA shows no mercy, so I realize now more than ever the importance of a good first impression. I put #174 up the other day, but today and tomorrow I gotta put my reading and writing assignments first. Beyond that, I can't really say. One particular essay alone may send me reeling through the weekend.

November 27  ~  6:00 PM

Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving? Gooood. I sure did. Having to help put up X-mas decorations immediately afterward? Not so much. Anyway, I'm well off the tryptophan, and by presenting comics 172 and 173 for your amusement, I have earned tonight's dinner. Gotta go!

November 20  ~  11:00 PM

More buttons. Up next is a fancy title graphic - then the background photo won't hinder the text at all! Not exactly more comicking, but working really hard on making my comic known throughout the internets. If you came here via choicecomics.net, thank you, thank you, thank you. Now sit down and buckle up - it's gonna be a wild ride.

November 18  ~  6:00 PM

The Wii comes out tomorrow. Wiiiiiiiiiii! So excited. So very happy. I've been in a pretty good mood for the last five days straight. At least five days. I love college. Also, I got one of the Flashbulb CDs I ordered offa Amazon. Not many know of the Flashbulb, but the music style can't be put into just one genre. Some tracs are pleasant instruments, others are heavy "glitch" techno. Sometimes it sounds like your computer is having a siezure. That's how I like to put it. And I signed up to choicecomics.net, but I haven't recieved my conformation email yet. Aren't those things supposed to be automated? Oh yeah - #170 is up. And I'm cycling through the placeholders once again...

November 17  ~  9:00 PM

#170 will be here before you know it, I promise. I've decided to make archive-browsing even easier, if that's possible, by throwing a Storyline Selector into the mix. Wow... just when I thought I was going on One Big Plot all this time!

November 11  ~  4:00 PM

So now we have music on almost all the sub-pages, I updated the Cast page to include Goji, and there are two new banners on the links page, and an updated banner of my own. Also, I have these amazing backgrounds spliced together and ready for use in the next few comics, but I don't really feel like working on them right now. Turns out I'm not as lazy as I thought I was gonna be today.

November 4  ~  10:00 PM

Umm... yeah. Things are a bit outta whack now. You'll havfta dig into the archives for this week's update, buecause I finally got around to filling in #150 and 151! Hoo-ah! Bask in the vortex-filling goodness! Oh hey, double meaning there. Gap in the soryline, gap in the space-time continuum. Also, now that I know the music works, I need to add it to my other pages, because they seriously need some flair. And Secret of Mana theater hasn't updated in a whole month, which worries me. Until next week, check out Tip of the Sword. They update regularly!

November 1  ~  10:00 PM

OK, I missed ranting for Halloween, but at least the costume comic made it on time. Not like much happened here on campus. Rumor has it all the parties were two nights before. Then there was Mischief Night... riots in Detriot, er, Detroit. Here? A shower full of newspaper. The prank wasn't on us specifically, but it made my night. I wish I could prank more, really. But this just doesn't have the right... atmosphere or something.

October 29  ~  7:00 PM

Comics 166 and 167 are up, and I do believe they are quite a pair. In fact, I'm even double-dipping on the fanservice. To my college peeps, it's an homage to the "funny for five minutes" Tourette's Guy. To the Real Ren (tm) it's her always-smilin', Full-House-starrin' idol. We can only hope that Kevin didn't get any drain bamage. And... I'm gonna have so scrounge up some extra sprites for the third annual Halloween comic. I planned on making one last placeholder, too... but Titan Quest is just so darn alluring. It's kinda weird how you can take your single-player character, uber gear and all, onto online mode. So it's pretty darn easy to bring in hacked gear. Most popular on the "literally too good to be true" list is a ring called the Copper Seal which, among other things, doubles gained experience and removes all equipment requirements except for level. They've been nicknamed "seals" which is hardly a worthy name. I'm thinking... the Stone of Jordan. XD

October 26  ~  12:00 PM

I've given a minor revamp to most of the first comics. Most of them I only needed to fix the margins (that lil' white space on each side of the comic), but a few of them got a considerable facelift. In particluar, #10 and #81. And now I'm testing adding music to this page. Oh, this will be fun. AND! My pog is finally visible on the CG main page! I have proof! Joy!

October 21  ~  1:00 PM

Most comics put up filler in lieu of a comic, but I'm taking it one step further. Behold, the PLACEHOLDERS! These (hopefully) short-lived bundles of joy should be suitable until I can put forth effort for real comics. Hey, look! More buttons!

October 14  ~  7:00 PM

Having a lazy evening for some reason. I managed to bring forth #162 earlier today, but nothing beyond that. I have work to do, and not surprisingly, there are no limits to what I'll do to get out of doing what I have to do. Eventually, I'll add a button for the forum to the rantbox.

October 13  ~  9:50 PM

Holy crapola crayons. Hold EVERYTHING. You absolutely must see what I just saw. This made me laugh so hard I cried. That's like... a godsend of comedy. I cannot believe how funny this is, AND that it is a part of a series... which I'll probably check out after watching this again. As for comicry... May have to hold off if I find myself able to catch up on the things I was forced to set aside for the art project - which I probably got an A on. ^_^ Oh by the way, I have a forum now.

October 8  ~  10:00 PM

I have a forum now. And... I completely blew off comic-ing today. And... I don't really regret it. I had a busy day today, as predicted, to the point where I can't feel much of anything right now. I should be studying, but I'm all... brain-dead now. I've got like ten things in my head fighting for attention, and nothing's actually getting done. But I had an absolutely awesome day today, so it's not all bad.

October 7  ~  11:00 AM

I have a forum now. I'm sorry I won't be able to do much about it today, for I already have a busy schedule. A comic is not beyond my scope, and there is talk of a bizarre -hand drawn- filler series inspired by a friend of a friend. In other news, I've noticed that more and more webcomics are adding random YouTube vids to their rants. What, you really need that much padding?

October 5  ~  9:00 AM

I'd like to take a moment to rant (or perharps rave) about last night's episode of South Park. As hard as I find it to believe, I actually liked it. I think this is the first time they deviated from their standard "paper and scissors" art style since the ninja/anime episode. I know the point is the plot and not the fluid or realistic animation, but that matters to me, especially in video games. So here, the twisted minds behind South Park made most of this episode out of (slightly) edited clips of... World of Warcraft. After watching, what surprised me most was there was almost none of the usual vulgarity or random celebrity bashing. In fact, their main "message" was that nerds have no life. Uh... is that supposed to be shocking... you know, like all the other South Park "messages"? You certainly didn't shock the nerds. That's like drunkenly barging into a church and shouting "Hey..... you all believe in a higher power!" Everyone knows it. Also, I'm surprised this episode wasn't made six months ago. WoW is like... old now. Maybe Trey and Matt had to wait for months to get permission and/or help to tighten up the graphics the way they did. I don't play the actual game, but I'm pretty sure lots of the character animations would never be found in the real game. Props.

September 30  ~  12:00 PM

I filled my quota early today. #160 was released yesterday, and here is #161. What? They're almost the same comic, you say? LIES!
Aside from that, I may be able to work on wrapping up #150 and #151 this weekend. I've got scripts (remember those?) written out as far as #180, and ideas in my head up to #200. Perhaps it is a semi-conscious effort to catch up, but a lot of the comics past this point have quite a bit less average text per panel. I suppose it's for the best. Most comics take what I put into three panels and spread it out over five or six.

September 23  ~  10:00 PM

AAAAAHHHHHHH! I woke up this morning and the very first thought (Not including the intense urge to relieve myself after dreaming about... oh lord. I still can't believe my dream was the way it... wait. Why am I still using parentheses?) That's better. Still, my dream was messed up. I had this balloon, see, and I was trying to fill it as much as I could, for I knew that if I could, the balloon would increase in size to the point where it would flood the town if/when it burst, but ONLY if I could keep it full. As luck would have it, the chain reaction began too soon, and the balloon became limp and wrinkly in my arms as I frantically ran around trying to find a proper source of pressurized water. Then I had to drop everything and find a bathroom. Once my "mission" was successful (And appropriately exaggerated to the point where no metaphor would make it safe to explain here) I woke up, very glad that the subconscious mind has minimal control over the physical body. Like the Matrix. Except I've died in dreams a lot. I'm pretty sure all my mind was telling me was "Get up and GO!" but it would give Freud or any similar symbolism-searcher an aneurysm. THEN my very next thought was the motivation to create something artistic today. And now the day is done, and the artistic thing is complete and digitally remastered, and it is a magnificent and glorious spectacle indeed, and yet... it is NOT a comic. So... until I can bring forth another comic, enjoy the special Love-themed update to the Wisdom page.

September 16  ~  9:00 PM

No comic today. Come to think of it, not much of anything. I blazed thru the entire archive of Order of the Stick in... two days, and all this "social interaction" is really draining my crative juices. That, and today marks the day I performed a Rap song (If you can call it that) of my own design. (Gasp!) So I haven't really had the energy to make a comic. I really need to make more progress on my long-term school projects. Yes, the Rap was one of them. I like college.

September 9  ~  6:00 PM

I've been surprisingly effecient recently, making three more comics, one of which finally fills up a gap in an old storyline! I'm not talking about the big one-five-oh, of course, but #118: Quittin' Time. The Archive page is refreshed, so go check it out. Also, I've been checking out a few other comics that periodically have single-panel "Covers" that give you a glimpse into the upcoming storyline, much like the covers of actual comic books. I think that's a neat idea, and I should try it out sometime.

September 5  ~  6:00 PM

Yesterday marks a sad day - the death of the world's bravest man... Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. After countless near-death experiences, he finally succombed to a stingray after pulling the tail out of his own heart. (He had to - it was still attached to the stingray.) Since then, he has become immortalized with video footage, news recaps, and countless YTMNDs. He really was the Man of all men, a real Chuck Norris. Even in his last moments, before he slipped through what is the great barrier of life and death he proved he is more man then the rest of us. To him we dedicate all great achievements that are to come, for he is what gave us the courage to challenge that which is unknown. Two new comics today, animated and musical.

September 2  ~  11:00 AM

Yesterday marks the first of quite a few things. The first load of laundry, the first almost sleeping through class, the first getting a girl interested in MTG... and the first loss of one (1) house key. Yup, that's a great big D'OH! right there. I'm heading off to a pig roast today, so I doubt I can crank out a comic today. But Monday and Tuesday I don't have classes, so I definitely have time to make progress.

August 26  ~  8:00 PM

I've moved to college quite smoothly. The first week is a bit slow, but at least it doesn't feel too much like camp (Whaddaya mean, four more years?). I'm definitely making friends at a much faster rate than I ever did in high school. The only bad news is that just an hour ago my compy started seriously wigging out while running Oblivion. I can only hope it won't pop up again - I'm doing what I can to keep my inner sanctum from overheating. I need a window fan. So here's a comic, and a shout-out to Michelle!

August 21  ~  2:00 PM

For the most part, I'm packed and set to go. (Obviously my compy is still here.) Sorry I couldn't crank out a comic on the one day I'm scheduled to. But yesterday I had a lil' goin-away party, which was nice. The ribs took literally all day to cook, but they actually weren't all that great. Maybe they needed more BBQ sauce. But the cheesecake was GODLY. So... I updated the Archive and Wisdom pages. You may be wondering what's stopping me from making a comic right now... (Cue Jeopardy theme)

August 15  ~  5:00 PM

Today marks the start of my pack-up-and-move to college. Making a list, checking it twice, you know the drill. Meanwhile, I've put up a few more comics, and I'm once again looking around for someone to give a nice, professional review of my comic. Mad props to Gerrund of Normal Life for expanding my sprite sheet.

August 13  ~  12:00 PM

Managed to put up #149 last night. It looks exactly the way I wanted it to, which is a great feeling. I've been getting a healthy dose of Oblivion as well... doodling... reading... basically milking my last week at home before being shipped off to college. I'm not leaving much behind. Maybe today I can start putting forth efforts to pull this sucker out of half-hiatus. I may start uploading comics out of sequence because it will honestly be much faster. I mean, the next comic is divisible by 50, therefore, it's a BIG one.

August 6  ~  9:00 PM

Spending the week up north, with pretty much zilch internet access. I’m so far out of my element, I’m not even getting the “second wave” of energy I’m used to – the part of the day where I spend a few (or more) hours in front of a screen because it takes so little from the mind and body. Thus, I’m no longer capable of staying awake past midnight. Which I should get used to, because I hear self-regulation is crucial to success in college. Easy enough, right? (Stop snickering, college students.)

July 29  ~  6:00 PM

The good news: I doubled my RAM yesterday, and it has miraculously killed the framerate issues of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which is good because I'm just starting to get back in that game. The bad news: I'm in no state of mind to crank out a comic, but only because Oblivion is just that awesome. And I don't want to bother with filler until I can get my arse out of half-hiatus. And... uh... The last YTMND I made enjoyed a brief moment in the "Up and Coming" spotlight! ... Oh snap, 4000 hits? Can that be right? Wow. Maybe I really am getting 8 hits a day.

July 25  ~  11:00 PM

HOLY CRUD I actually made a comic! (w00t!) In the zoomed panel I really like giving Ren the "natural" smile - it looks like she's so happy to teach about helium, it almost makes me want to put a "The More You Know" logo in the corner. And that is no ordinary helium, but... ah, you'll figure it out in the next two comics anyway. In other news, I managed to get a fair and balanced class schedule... and although I do have a major in mind, my schedule doesn't reflect it. But I'd rather have fair and balanced. (It lets me sleep in.)

July 23  ~  8:00 PM

I FINISHED Final Fantasy VII, which of course rocks out loud. However, I did it without without KOTR, Omnislash, a Gold Chocobo, or more than Diamond Weapon slain. So it's pretty clear - especially with RPGs - that beating a game is a far cry from making said game my "be-yotch" which is essential to fulfilling my monthly manliness quota. And I really don't want to have to turn in my Man card. In other news... college orientation is in a few days. Hopefully there's a fair number of good classes still available. And a shout-out to my future roomie!

July 15  ~  7:00 PM

Home alone for the weekend and having a grand old time. However, comic-ing does not appeal to me nearly as much today as finishing Final Fantasy VII. I can't even find much decent stuff for the Wisdom page. Bummer. But there is a rumor that I may be getting help soon!

July 8  ~  5:00 PM

Still spending the week in Grand Haven - can't do a darn thing!

July 2  ~  7:00 PM

I've started doodling again. I doubt I could crank out anything worthy of ED filler, but practice makes perfect. Had an early fireworks show last night - it was terrific being so close, but yeah. After half an hour, it does get repetitive, which is a bummer. Considering it's only apropriate once a year, fireworks are NOT something that should get boring that fast. Well, I'm off to the other side of the state for a week. I sure hope inspiration strikes me soon, because I just know there will be many an hour of peaceful "down-time" available.

June 26  ~  3:00 PM

I put #147 up a few days ago. For the record, Ren is kicking through the bubble, not at Kevin. As for me, I'm feeling a lot better. Only managed to go one day without needing a power nap, but at least my appearance and (for lack of a better word) aura is back to normal.
Methinks I'll update the Links page now.

June 17  ~  6:00 PM

Recovering from surgery. Mind and body moving very slowly. After ten friggin' years, the hearing in my right ear may finally be restored. Only time will tell. Ditto for the comic. I'm just... not... feeling too well. A considerable amount of blood leaking from the ear will do that to ya.

June 10  ~  9:00 PM

Grrr. Free time, my arse! This has to be, without a doubt, the busiest summer I've ever had. My happy little part-time job is nothing compared to what I've been put throught to help prepare for my graduation party. I thought these things were supposed to be like suprise birthday parties - everything springs up overnight, no effort necessary for the guest of honor. Life's full of little disappointments. Outside I remain cheerful, but inside I am like Ah-nold, who is AHN-gury, so AHN-gury all the time! And whyyyy? Because the creative side of my brain has lost all motivation, cor blimey! I want to finish the latest comic, I really really do, but as soon as I sit down, by brain literally goes kerplunk! The same goes for my so-called drawing skills as well. It just doesn't... click like it used to.

A-HA! I have a solution! If I invite someone over and show them how I make a comic, that would get me motivated again, because apparently, some part of my brain has forgotten my favorite part of comic completion: reactions from readers! But y'all can help from a distance as well: the ever-present guestbook! Feedback is like competition: it can only make things better for everyone!

May 29  ~  9:00 PM

Cor blimey, it got hot n' humid fast. well, that's summer for ya. I'm out of school, which means I should have a 500% increase in free time. So far, I've spent the first weekend of summer at the cottage. The bad news is that the next update will have to wait even more, but the good news is that I got to spend some quality time with "the Real Ren", so expect an amusing plot twist shortly after the next musical number.

May 19  ~  10:00 PM

Wow. I'm just not motivated to do what used to be my favorite things. Weird. Sorry to let my adoring fans down once again - I fear I may be even worse when summer starts, um... next week. Wow. Another shout-out to Gar Molloy, who's apparently busting his butt with overtime at a full-time job, while I'm barely pulling eight hours a week at good ol' Euramtec. As for my big project, it's done, and I'm satisfied. To quote Gar, "Who knew sitting on your @$$ for eleven hours a day could be so tiring?"

May 13  ~  8:00 PM

No comic this time. I've been silently uploading here and there, but this marks the seventh day with zilch. The world is waiting for #145 as of this writing, just for the record. This weekend will probably be better - but until then, I have to bust my butt to finish a MAJOR MASS MEDIA PROJECT by Friday. By myself, since the group I landed in couldn't pull together at all. I hope the end result will be as goos as it looks right now in my head.

April 30  ~  10:00 PM

Spent the weekend home alone... again. fortunately, I was able to limit Nerdvana to Saturday. Too bad my mind still wanders in ways that would make a pinball jealous. What if TAG body spray actually worked as advertised? Why does a digital camera drain batteries even if you don't turn it on? If you listen to a song less than two minutes long over and over for over an hour and not get sick of it, are you insane?

April 22 ~ 9:00 PM
My doodling skills have noticably improved. Considering how far behind I've fallen, I may need hand-drawn filler on top of "ED Economics" and "Rem Nissar: Memory Master." I haven't touched the script in a long time... In other news, I ordered the Okage: Shadow King OST off of some international site. These guys just may be literally the only site that has it for sale. Sure, I could make my own OST, but then ED would be pushed back to, say, the Netherlands.

April 15  ~ 8:00 PM
Happy Tax Day! OK, not really. Reporting from Florida... sorta. College Spring Break is way different from Real Spring Break... but maybe that's because they're a month apart. Well, it doesn't bother me all that much. The point of a break is to do nothing... because your body and mind is sick and tired of doing stuff  'round the clock (I use this term very loosely). I finally finished Okage... I forget who said the ending was crap, but that guy was full of crap. The ending totally made sense, and it was totally worth it.

April 8  ~  9:00 PM

Could it be... have I finally completed Dragon Quest VIII? Maybe. But nothing says "I'm level awesome" like whuppin' the final boss in a single turn. I'm pretty sure there's a video of that somewhere. I'm not saying I'd go that far, but seriously... once you have the ultimate alchemy pot, you just gotta put it to good use. Alchemy is friggin' awesome. Not the hokey Dark Ages kind... The MacGyver kind, where A+B+C = Awesome... with a little FullMetal Alchemist thrown in for theatrics.

April 1  ~  6:00 PM

Today's my BERFDAY! (w00t!) Last night I had a grand old time at a brand new arcade. It's a lot like Gameworks, with the card and everything, but the system is a bit different, and there are way more "coin-pusher" games, which, even after having moderate luck on one of them, I despise with the blazing fury of a thousand suns. (Dang, I like that phrase a lot.) Birthday-themed comic... whenever. Where the heck did I put last year's X-mas comic?

March 25  ~  10:00 PM

I'm still cranking out comics... slowly... I just haven't felt like talking about them here. Now I've filled in the gaps between the two storylines, so you'll need to click the PREV button a few times to see the "newest" comics. Now, filling in the gaps does NOT mean connecting them. But if you've read enough of the comic, you can already tell that I will connect them in the future. I'm not quite sure how, though.

February 28  ~ 3:00 PM

February 25  ~  7:00 PM

Ironically, I'm too busy working on a comic for Psychology class than to make comics here. On an ever sadder note, I just found out that AN&TG's Quality Roms is dying, since the bond of the love of retro gaming has faded between them. Fortunately, the diehard fans refuse to let the site go down, and a redesign may be on the way. Show your support for the only ROM site with no ads, few dead links, and no "vote three times here to download ROM" EVER! Umm... I'm not sure if praising them via email would help, but if a Paypal button pops up, I'll mention it.

February 19  ~  6:00 PM

Hooray for February Break! Maybe I can finally get some stuff done. But the majority of my mind seems to be compelled with finishing Banjo-Tooie (old school love) and Dragon Quest VIII (Roman numerals - now that's REAL old school) simultaneously. Maybe tomorrow will bring fortune. In other news, I think I have a shot at winning Inkdrinker's "contest" on YTMND, being one of the few that isn't annoying on purpose. Check it here: http://inktwist.ytmnd.com ... Someone really oughta compare Ink to Simon Cowell.

February 11  ~  7:00 PM

OK, now I'm just being lazy. But my hands are a bit full with job-hunting and all. At this rate, I'm trapped forever in the catch-22 of "Need experience to get a job, need a job to get experience." Inother news, my room is having a REALLY hard time staying clean. One day it's truly tidy, the next day papers are strewn everywhere. It's maddening - maddening, I tell you!

February 4  ~  6:00 PM

No comic this time. I'm just not feeling any inspiration. Happy Groundhog Day!

January 28  ~  12:00 PM

Can't do a dang thing this weekend - the play has pretty much drained me completely. Even Sunday has no chance - I'll be lucky if I wake up before noon. It's all worth it in the end, all the applause and all... but the odds of my joining the spring play are slim to none.

January 21, 2006  ~  7:00 PM

Here's number #131. I miss the good old days when I was behind by three comics on average. A lot of the dialogue is getting moved around, but it's a small price to pay to improve the flow and humor. Xmas special coming soon!

January 18, 2006  ~  8:00 PM

Long story short, I'm going into overdrive. I put up, what, 4... 5 comics last weekend? Just 7 more to go until I can plug my PS2 back in. (How's that for an incentive?) I also updated the archive and fixed the links, since I still don't believe the "permanant redirect status" of the keenspace URLs are really that permanent. It costs money to hold a domain, regardless of (in)activity.

January 8, 2006  ~  8:00 PM

Did you hear about the latest internet war? Ebaum Vs. Ytmnd. Ebaum blatantly stole "Lindsay Lohan Doesn't Change Facial Expressions" from YTMND. YTMND responded a bit crudely – bringing down their forums with DOS-based hacking. E. Bauman had his daddy fight for him. Max finally sent an email back, pretty much overwhelming what daddy-baum had of an argument. The Cease and Desist letter was more of a thinly-veiled rapid-fire insulting of the general YTMND community than a professional complaint. So, YTMND is praising Max all around. (Max is the sole proprietor of YTMND, by the way.) Too bad I missed it. Finals week, ya know. I only caught the beginning (Friday) and the end (today.) I don't necessarily hate ebaum - he compiles general humor I can access easily - but I don't like the fact he steals everything and slaps his watermark on it. But this ain't the first time Ebaum has been royally dissed and dismissed. Something Awful had their shot, too. (It wasn't fair to those from who he stole, but did he care... no not... one bit...)

January 2, 2006  ~  8:00 PM

Happy New Year! Except in the case of ED, Crap-py New Year! In case you haven't noticed, the URL has changed from keenspace to comicgenesis. This is mandatory for all keenspace comics - check the main site if you really want the full scoop. As for my comic, I'm doing what I can to catch up. I spent all of last week in Florida, so I couldn't really get much done.

December 10  ~  9:00 PM

GRRRR. Long story short, I've been completely unplugged for the last five weeks. It's been no picnic, let me tell you. For the most part, I blame myself for slipping behind academically in the first place. I don't think I'll ever get used to the fact that the only way to get my parents off my back for good is to take there "essence" with me everywhere I go. It's not the same as turning into my parents, but if you ask me, it's too close for comfort. As for the comic... I'll get caught up in due time. I'm not completely out of the woods yet.

November 5  ~  7:00 PM

Your eyes do not deceive you - that's three new comics right there. Yeah, they look similar, but that's a lot of plot setup there, so pay attention. In other news, I've finally broken my Diablo 2 addiction... and... there's apparently this big ol' anime convention called Youmacon next weekend. It's being advertised by the Great Dave of B&G, so people are hearing about it all across the country. That means people will travel at least halfway across the country just to see Dave. Well, that's what Dave hopes. Conveniently enough, I happen to live only half an hour away from Troy, where this whole shindig is happenin'. Even though I'm merely a fledgling fanboy, would it be worth going, just because it's a local event? Hmmm. Decisions, decisions... Think I should go? AIM ME already!

October 29  ~  9:00 PM

Two more comics, making up for last weekend... but not for the fact I'm still almost 3 months behind. Not much of note otherwise... except I can finally stop ripping sound clips from YTMND, because a human being apparently composed of pure awesomeness compiled FULL VERSIONS of all the popular YTMND tunes into one fantastic Torrent. I'd never have it without BitTorrent, and I'd never have BitTorrent without... *chuckles* Yeah... you know who you are. See #114? That's for all y'all. No one's really asked me questions about what's going on or why, so I've got no incentive to put up a Q&A page.

October 21  ~  10:00 PM

No comic this weekend - I'm off to the Stratford Theatre in granf ol' Canadia! I'd like to take this opportunity to give a coupla shout-outs. Ubergeek, you're very welcome, but you still owe me big time. And to those four guys who couldn't stop asking me to shout out the intro to "Last Resort" by Papa Roach... thanks for stopping by. Sorry I forgot your names so fast, but that's what the guestbook is for.

October 16  ~  9:00 PM
I've cranked out not one, but THREE comics today! As you can see, the flipping between perspectives is becoming more frequent. I think it captures the dual levels of intensity well. Another thing - when you work in the Mall, getting fired and getting downsized have very different meanings. With the first, you keep your job unless you lose your life. With the second, you are forced to do your job with the new addition of being in constant danger on losing your life.

October 8  ~  8:00 PM
My parental units are spending the weekend in Florida, so I have the house all to myself. However, this means with no one around to breathe down my neck, I become horribly inefficient. So, no new comic today. It was a miracle I managed to finish all my homework. The next time I have that much time to myself, I better be in college, or at least have a friggin' JOB.

October 1 ~ 11:00 PM
Whaddaya know, I managed to splice together a decent bridge-themed background. I also found time today to meet up with Alex. Not the one from the comic, I mean Alex "Ubergeek." He and he alone will understand the following: Rock Lobster! Paper Tiger! Scissors Lizard!

September 24 ~ 9:20 PM
New comic. I'm not sure how (not when, HOW) I'll be able to crank out the next few, as they require a completely new background. To be exact, a bridge. Preferably an old, wooden one. I don't have a specific game in mind, so that makes it much harder. If you have an idea on where to find a bridge-themed background, AIM me.A bit of good news - I manage to print out a new batch of business cards.

September 20 ~ 9:00 PM
My rantbox got screwed up, I don't know how. I was just trying to change the text links below the rantbox to clickable buttons and, well, all heck broke loose. My rantbox became a 404-box, and my hitcounter also vanished mysteriously. So I'm starting from scratch - I found the default Indextemplate HTML from the Comic Genesis help forum, and I'm copy-pasting all, and only, the stuff I'm positive still works. Unfortunately, this tells me I can't have "extra" images on my main page. I'll have to ask on said forum about that. Umm... as for the comic itself... I'm still working on catching up.

September 17 - 10:00 PM
More asthetic changes to the site this week. Replaced the text links below the rantbox with buttons. Making a picture out of the comic title is next. I'm still very reluctant to use filler. Got nothing to rant about, in terms of my life outside the computer. YTMND rocks. A bunch of other sites rock, but one reason I don't feel like putting them in my Links page is that they get enough attention already.

September 6  ~  7:00 PM
Longest space between rants ever. Dang. Well, let it be known far and wide that I have NOT neglected my dear comic! I'm up to #104 now, and scripts are written out to #120. I'll soon start flipping back and forth between Goji's perspective (Yes, the Shin-Goji from Twisted Kaiju Theater) and Ren's. I seriously need to update the Links page, but the Archive has gotten a nice boost. Take a look, and feel free to speculate.

July 18  ~  10:00 AM
Honestly, I'm just loving the heck out of summer. But I really need to get my rear in gear and crank out these comics. Here's #97 -  the funky background is gone for good. The next few comics will be animated as well, building up to the big Number 100! I also have ED script written out all the way to #116.

June 25  ~  8:00 PM
The internet signal has been fixed for good. The weakness wasn't in the modem or the router - it was between the telephone pole and the house. We realized that when the cable guy replaced that part of the wire, and we've been running at 100% efficiency since. So life is good. I also went to the Spree today - that's what they call the annual county-hosted carnival. It's times like these that make me glad I'm immune to motion sickness. Animated comic tomorrow. Notice that the latest comic takes place in the cursed room, but the text is visible without breaking my transparent text rule. Keep in mind that the curse may already be weakened by Raistlin's death and/or Dave's attempt to remove the billboard curse.

June 18  ~  6:00 PM
Oy, where has my head been lately? As far as I can tell, somewhere else entirely. Maybe that's why I feel more productive when I put myself on autopilot, but I pretty much freeze when I finish whatever I was told to do. Anyway, we've realized that I can only have a good internet signal when the laptop isn't taking in a signal. We don't know why - our router should be able to support all three computers at once. So many things are going wrong, we don't know who to complain to! As for ED, I'm more behind than ever. Thanks for stopping by anyway.

June 4  ~  9:00 PM
I'm still here, but barely. In mid-April I gut my TV and Internet yanked from my room - literally. Then I caught a freakishly strong cold bug - I've had it for almost three weeks and I'm still not sure I'm over it. Now our internet connection is extremely unstable, although it's a beautiful day outside. Speaking of which, I can't wait for summer vacation to start. That may be the biggest reason why my mind feels so hard to focus. Lately, I haven't even felt like working on ED - other than the HTML stuff I did. Oyyyy. I guess my next some comics will appear half baked, since I can't get any spriting help from the B&G Forum. And I lost my script folder two weekends ago, so rebuilding the script might take a while. If I sound like I'm whining... I just feel like crap.

April 9  ~  11:00 PM
Dang, I feel like such a slacker. I can't even call anyone else a slacker now. I still don't have a car, girlfriend, job or license... and my priorities are way out of whack. I say the latter because B&G has finished its fifth year and bajillionth comic, Neko the Kitty moved away from Keenspace, and I'm further behind than ever. I'm more depressed that I'm behind in virtual reality than that I'm behind in... actual reality. Actually, I finished #89 earlier. I didn't get to post it because me internet went on the fritz... again. I also tried revamping the Cast page so that moving your mouse over the pics would change them, but it doesn't seem to work. Hmm.

April 1  ~  10:00 AM
Happy Berfday to me! W00T! Also a big shout-out to Eric, who had his special day just yesterday. Chances are good I'll make a comic for him. In other news, I've had a wonderful time this week. Too bad it's more than half over...

March 19  ~  9:30 PM
Wowo, it's been a long time since I ranted. Probably because there's not a whole lot to rant about, comic-wise. #84 thru 88 are now up,  and I'm still considerably behind. Most of my free time is spent on Diablo 2, even though I have quite a few better games within reach. Probably because it's the only free online RPG I have. Perhaps I'll be able to get my rear in gear over spring break. ... What am I saying? Last night, I played Diablo for four hours straight, and then I went to bed and dremaed about Diablo.  Why can't I ever wake up perky on school days?

February 27  ~  10:00 PM
I feel pretty helpless. I'm sorry #85 is here before #84, but #84 (and 86, for that matter) require ripped backgrounds, and ripping backgrounds require a screen capture program that doesn't run out after 30 days. Rather than blindy search for warez, I'm probably just gonna cough up the cash for the license fee - with my parents' help, of course. Until then... well... go read some other comic. I recommend Legostar Galactica.

February 14  ~  6:45 PM
I'm exhausted. While it's nice that I have the whole week off school, I'm spending most of this week renovating the entire upstairs bathroom. On a happer note, Korsil got around to reviewing my site. View it HERE. Basically, I need to add some major eye candy to the site, especially the archive pages. If you know anything about advanced HTML, AIM me!

February 4  ~  5:45 PM
TGIF, yall! I don't have a new comic up yet - I'm just ranting because I CAN! I have ED scripts written out through #91, which is pretty good. I'm really close to the strips where everybody sings, which is also good. The only thing that's not good is that I can't get decent screen captures of DVD's on my CPU, which SUX. Well, I might as well update the archive. Then, I must beat Paper Mario. I cannot hold it off any longer!

January 30  ~  7:00 PM
The PS effect is a lot less overpowering here in #81, but I think it fits the magnitude of such an explosion. I know that this comic looks a lot like the last one. Seeing as there's no real action at this point, there's not much use to moving everyone around. On a side note, has anyone else noticed that January is the month of horror movies? Boogeyman, Alone in the Dark, Hide and Seek... I could use some more nightmares...

January 29  ~  7:30 PM
#80 is up. Wisdom page is updated. Korsil review should be up very soon. Since I'm now limited to 6 hours of total CPU time per weekend, and each ED takes at least an hour, it looks like I'll never catch up at this rate. BAH.

January 22  ~  10:30 PM
E-gad. I really had to push myself to finish #79. At least it's on time! Well, technically. As for the comic itself, I didn't think of Kevin's first line until earlier today - it just popped in my head and I realized it was perfect. I also updated the cast page last weekend, but I didn't get to mention it. Does Austin look better fuzzy than huge or disproportionate? Give me a shout out via the guestbook - that's what it's there for!

January 14  ~ 9:00 PM
Here's the scoop - I'm landlocked in a C for Precalculus, so I'm officially unplugged during school days for at least half the next five weeks. This weekend is my swan song - my last "Nerdvana" splurge. I've made a vow to avoid Doom and Diablo in favor of ED and another project I'm working on. For now, here's #78. I'm gonna start the next one right now!

January 7  ~  6:30 PM
Ta-friggin-da. #77, complete with Photoshop overdose. If anyone has a better method for making the third panel look more like a vortex, AIM ME. Midterms are next week, so my brain is apparently taking precautions to get fried well in advance. I can't wait for the next semester to start. I may not even be able to enjoy this weekend with all these friggin' tests to study for.

January 1, 2005  ~  8:30 PM
To all those who actually care, my sincerest apologies for not being able to crank out a single comic while I was in Florida. I was just having too much fun with other stuff. Unfortunately, all that other stuff also failed to include homework, so I'll also have to work on that tomorrow. I feel kinda bad, since I'm falling behind pretty much everywhere. But my main New Year's Resolution is: Don't do anything stupid, no matter what the voices in your head tell you! I think that's a good rule for everyone to live by.

December 18  ~  9:45 PM
The good news is, I celebrated Xmas yesterday and got a few nice things, the nicest of which was an iRiver MP3 player (I specifically asked not for and iPod). The bad news is, I literally had no time for ED this weekend, nor will I have any time next weekend since I'm flying off to Florida Thursday morning, most likely without a laptop. I will, however, put up some filler and try to think up a Xmas special comic speedy-quick. Since I'm not up to thinking right now, I'm off to go play Diablo 2 on Battle.net. I'll get LoD soon...

December 12  ~  9:30 AM
#75 is up now! Again, lack of energy (his, not mine) has reduced Raistlin's special FX powers. Who knows, maybe I'll put up more today... In other news, there are no video games on my current Xmas wish list. Coming from a game-addict like me, that's a major mouthful. The reason is that I already have too many unfinished games. Diablo 2, Paper Mario 2, Dark Cloud 2, FF7, FFX-2... they just sit there, calling me a sissypants.

December 11  ~  3:30 PM
Just a quick shout out, since my heart's not in cranking out an ED today. #75-78 are each almost halfway done, though. I'm probably gonna take a nap now. If I get a second wind, I'll update again ASAP. Another diversion? Try Awful Fantasy, a ROM of FF3 for the SNES with the script and sprites completely reworked. I won't post a link because most of the parody elements are inside jokes and random R-rated crap. Awful Fantasy is only for those who love or hate FF in general, a strong constitution and an open (or empty) mind. Oh yeah, you need an SNES emulator too.

December 4  ~  11:45 AM
OK, I finally managed to put the frames together for #74. Making the kitchen look like a kitchen took a lot of effort too. If anyone wants to talk to me directly about ED, I now have an AIM name: Austin Schnitzel!

December 1  ~  10:00 PM
"We judge ourselves by what we are capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done." (Longfellow) As you can guess, I apologize for the major lack of updates, but I've been really busy avoiding minor mental meltdowns. The Wisdom page has some new stuff, check that out. If you still need a diversion, I recommend Walking in Circles, a small online game with an itty-bitty built-in live chat room. (www.walkingincircles.com) More ranting next weekend!

November 20  ~  8:30 PM
Well, I've managed to find enough time and energy to crank out... another Halloween comic. Considering my past week, that's saying a lot. The surgery went better than expected: whatever was troubling my ear wasn't a cyst or even an infection. If they went ahead with the procedure, it could have unnecessarily doubled or even tripled my time spent knocked out of school. I still have a buttload left to make up, but I should survive until I get unplugged one way or another.

November 9  ~  8:00 PM
I'm having my ninth surgery tomorrow, so I'm cranking out #73 while I'm still coherent. Austin shows off his utter lack of common sense once again. My chronic ear infection isn't enough for Make-A-Wish, but hopefully this next mastiodectomy will fix my ear canal for good. Anyway, this is the last of the cursed wall for a while, but it could still become a problem later. How should the curse be removed? I have an idea, but I'm open for suggestions.

November 6  ~  1:00 PM
I actually managed to finish the comic and making it look just the way I wanted it to without animating it. My smile threatens to become wider than my face. Unfortunately, some of the link banners don't show up no matter what I do. It's also unfortunate that I'm still behind, but that's a given. To up the ante on my divergent ED thinking, Sprite Monkey just started a guest comic contest. I'm using ED in everything these days - school projects in particular. If I fall too far behind, I'll start using them as filler. Seeing as I have six strips devoted to the aggregate supply, demand and expenditure models, you probably don't want that to happen.

November 1  ~  9:00 PM
Last night - against all odds - I went trick-or-treating. I only went so I could chill with my buddy Chad. While ambling around his grandparents' subdivision, I thought up a name for our little group: "The Surly Teenagers Club." You can figure out the rest. Anyway, CHEERS to the Midi Shrine for hosting the largest selection of videogame music files on the internet ever, and JEERS to myself for 1) Losing my account on Neopets and 2) Waiting this long to fix up the Links page. Unless you're at school or have other image blocking, all the banners should now be visible in all their banner-y glory.

October 30  ~  9:00 PM
High winds gave me a second wind today, so here's #71, featuring two different simultaneous animations. For a moment, I considered having Dave's spell undo the wall curse, but I'm pretty sure it could be way funnier if Austin dealt with it later. Seeing as tomorrow is Halloween, I think I can also fit in another "costime" comic.

October 24  ~  5:00 PM
Obviously, no comic this weekend. I don't have the customized Austin sprite that I need, and I don't feel like making my own. Plus, all this crappy weather on the weekends has put me in a real slump. Ever had one of those days where you just wanna go to bed and stay there for the rest of your life? I am definitely having one of those days. Maybe I'll feel better when... no, wait. I can't forsee anything in the near future that will get me out of this funk. That includes electronics. Oh well... see you next Saturday.

October 17  ~  8:00 PM
Using borrowed time, I managed to crank out #70. Raistlin's mission is to degrade Austin and his comic-world until everyone else passes him off as just another idiot. What better way to do that than with a giant billboard proclaiming stupidity on one's head? (Not to insult Canadians, just tying in with B&G's "Helmeted Author Quips.") So, CHEERS to Canada for being such a good sport.

October 15  ~  3:30 PM
Believe it or not, it's an early update! Heading to Stratford tomorrow, the cottage tonight. #69's punchline is a classic "Yo Mama" joke with a rambling twist. In other news, CHEERS to Kosinski the Game Guru for finding me a GBA rom that I couldn't... and JEERS to myself for having an incredible brainfart on Wednesday. It's a long story; another one of those embarrasing moments that will haunt me for weeks at least.

October 10  ~  8:30 PM
Just came back from our last trip to Grand Haven for the year. We had to bring back a buttload of stuff because we needed to empty the boat for storage. Forget fitting it all in the car... where are we going to find room in the house? But I digress. Then again, that's pretty much all I do here. In other news, we have #68, probably one of the simplest comics in a long time. Once I get the poll working, y'all can vote on whether Austin should try to remove the "curse" in the other room or not. That's right: Austin's pad is more than a single, ambiguously large room, like most houses in comics are.

October 3  ~  7:00 PM
Voila, #67! I finally got around to adding the Photoshop effect of super-snazzy exit. The colors are a teensy a bit off, but so what? More good news: no more funky background for the rest of the flashback! Speaking of flashback, the other voice-overs are from Alex, Ren, and Kevin, respectively. Keep this in mind.

September 28  ~  6:30 PM
Fixed a glaring typo and gave the cast page a much-needed updating. If I find the time, I'll start creating tutorial strips to show newcomers the difference between a speech bubble and a voice-over, and stuff like that. Since I'm still behind with my regular comics, that probably won't happen for a while. By the way, the line in the center panel is a reference to one of my choir teacher's favorite lines for keeping the class in order. Who cares if it's redundant - it's effective!

September 25  ~ 8:00 PM
I just saw Napoleon Dynamite because I overheard a bunch of people at school saying it was hilarious. The good news: ND lives up to the hype. The bad news: there is no hype - no redeeming qualities or genres that makes it stand out as a movie. No action, drama, romance... just the life of a loser, Napoleon the Nerd.
In other news, we have #66 - the static version. An animated version (showing the spell being cast in all its glory) might be made ON REQUEST.

September 21  ~  7:30 PM
Wow. School is leaving me utterly exhausted every day, and I'm not sure why. Went to Grand Haven last weekend (stuck without a comp - gah!) and to the cottage the weekend before that. The routine isn't even that taxing (yet) but my brain must still be stuck in summer-mode. Hopefully I can get my head on straight before I start falling behind in more than the comic. The good news: new navigation buttons, featuring the lovely Ren Talees, and more stuff on the archive page. Storyline hints a-plenty!

September 6  ~  8:00 PM
Last week: comic, no rant. This week: rant, no comic. Things even out. I'm not lazy, I just have a life outside my computer that involves a lot of traveling. That, and I'm lazy. You want comics that bad, check the links page (which I seriously need to fix.) And yes, "Raistlin" is indeed blasting Austin's head off; I just chose not to have animated comics for a while. Once again, if you like what you see, sign my guestbook, the link is right below this box. Avoid empty praise if you can help it.

August 22  ~  5:00 PM
Here it is, the last comic of the summer, belated as usual. So much for my dreams of turning ED into a M-W-F comic. Oh well. I though I would at least be able to catch up, but nooo, I'm still one week behind. Could I crank out another tonight, seeing as they've suddenly become so simple? EDIT - TWO HOURS LATER: Nope! I've been on the comp too much already, and I'm thanking my lucky charms that my dad is choosing exasperation over anger. Till next time, enlighten yourself with 10 new quotes on the Wisdom page!

August 19  ~  4:00 PM
In the past week, I've done a buttload of stuff. Friday, I saw Aliens Vs. Predator, a very impressive flick, despite a few clichés. But then again, everything's cliché in movies today. Saturday & Sunday was spent at the cottage, including Rose's birthday party and a lively campfire. Rose is Caroline (A.K.A. Ren)'s youngest sister. Tuesday, I received my second bike-related injury, making my first one seem like nothing. (It still hurts. Ow. Yes, I'm a wuss.) Yesterday, I went to Cedar Point with my good buddy Chad (A.K.A. Mister Insane) as well as his dad and cousin. Today, I announced my announced my 1,000,000 NP giveaway on the games board and nearly got my account frozen. Now I feel really stupid for falling right into the hands of so many report-happy skeptics. The contest is still running, but please keep it on the down low.

August 11  ~  5:45 PM
Quick update. First, I've finally updated the archive page. This will make navigation quite easier, since for reasons unknown, clicking "next comic" on some pages automatically takes you to the latest comic. Another thing; all you anime/manga fans out there, try reading #58 backwards for a whole new perspective! Lastly, for those familiar with neopets.com, click HERE.

August 8  ~  12:30 PM
BREAKTHROUGH! Reporting live from Grand Haven, I've finally gained access to the internet, so indulge with a whopping FIVE COMICS, two of which are animated! BOO-YA! Last week, I was relaxing "away from it all" with our annual trip to Drummond Island. Yep, we had a glorious time in Camp Bohica; deer everywhere, bayside front yard, satellite TV... the works! Of course, being off the internet for so long almost made me forget what it's like to be efficient, but I also remembered a three-page report due for AP Economics in less than three weeks. Yikes - glad I'm not in college yet!

July 25  ~  8:00 PM
#12 has finally been revamped. It used to be the crappiest-looking GIF comic ever. Now the transition looks realistic and glorious. Go check it out!

July 24  ~  8:30 PM
There's a lot on my mind right now, and there's so much for me to rant about that there's no brainpower left to put them in a coherent order. But I'll try anyway.
1) One more comic. It's animated but in early stages it was intended to use Photoshop effects, and earlier than that, it wasn't intended for animation at all. 2) There may never be a poll because the HTML of the Lycos Poll Gear refuses to work. I'll try to replace the poll with a different LycosGear later. 3) Austin's appearance may change rapidly, depending on whether I can get someone to make sprites for me or not. Once I crank out #54, I'll get fully caught up in no time. That's right, this marks the END of the complex backgrounds!

July 14  ~  6:45 PM
I feel stupid for breaking the chain of weekend-only updates, but late is always better than, uh, later. Not one, but TWO new comics this time. This also marks the formal introduction of Kevin; and a few more cheesy Photoshop effects. Coming soon: a poll! Not a stupid poll like favorite characters, no, your opinions will DIRECTLY affect future storylines! I kid you not!

July 1st  ~  10:00 AM
Heading to the cottage this weekend, so I might as well update early. Technically it's not early because I missed last week (yes, Grand Haven again) but it's better than nothing. Now new comic today, but #50 and #52 are in the works, and #51 is already done. If I'm back Sunday evening, I may be able to put up three comics at once. #15 and 16 have been massively improved, go check them out.

June 19  ~  7:00 PM
The images are back, but I learned that a given image has to be on my site for it to be seen by others. Otherwise it's called hotlinking, which is a big no-no to Keenspace. My only issue with this is that I can't use images from my site as, say, a forum avatar. In other news: one more belated comic, animated to boot. And yes, the big #50 will be super-duper animated. My goal is to have it up by next weekend.

June 13  ~  5:00 PM
Wouldn't ya know it, I've gone and broke my brain over some html issues around my site, images not appearing and whatnot. There may or may not be a new comic today. Right now it's half-done, but my brain feels half-baked. I only got six hours of sleep last night. Nerdvana strikes again.

May 31  ~  8:00 PM
Working furiously to catch up, as usual. The animation for #48 was originally meant to be much more complex (single-panel, real-time flow, etc.) but it fell apart with the time crunch. For #50, I plan to pull out all the stops. For now, I must sleep. The past two days, I haven't gone to bed until almost midnight. Mini-Nerdvana.

May 29  ~  11:00 AM
Just here to update the site. Fixing a bit of HTML on the main page, adding a bit to the cast page. Two more comics up, still behind by four.

May 16  ~  9:00 PM
Spent the weekend at the cottage. Made two comics anyway. Got sick. Got better. Went to Grand Haven again last weekend. Lotta stuff happened, but it's not worth ranting about. I'm still drastically behind... yeah. I'll have more time to rant when I have more time and a working brain.

April 30  ~  5:00 PM
No comic this weekend. Heading out to Grand Haven tomorrow morning, seeing a "rock opera" play tonight. To make up for it, I've put up a comic archive page; amuse yourself with that for now. Soon, I'll update the Cast Page, the little moogle deserves recognition. Yes, that's a big part of the upcoming plot, which I should have cranked out by now. If you want confusion, go to Bob&George.

April 28  ~  6:00 PM
MEAP tests are this week, but only for freshmen and juniors, so I get to sleep in yesterday, today, and tomorrow! Hoo-ha! That means I get more time to work on ED (but homework comes first on pain of death from my parental units.) The good news is, I cleaned up some of my early comics: #3-6 are now nice, clean GIF's instead of blurry, fugly JPEG's. The bad news is, I got a sucky, but well-thought out, comic review by Michael Krzak. He sez my early comics are fugly, my animation is too fast, and my jokes are blah. He only saw the first 27 comics though, and I think things have massively improved since then. Of course, I've asked for another review. You can find the current one here: http://www.balance-power.com/reviews.html  (mine's #29.)

April 27  ~  9:00 AM
Three new comics up last weekend, but I'm still behind by... three. Crud. I've also updated the Wisdom, check that out too. Later, I'll add anti-links to the links page, where I read crappy comics (and expose them as crappy) so you don't have to. If you read and/or like any of those comics, mine is probably too complex for your little, malnourished mind. By the way, whose who sign my guestbook are also free to submit fan art, fan comics, and wisdom!

April 18  ~  6:00 PM
I'm finally back from a fantastic Spring Break in Cape Coral, Florida! What's not so fantastic is now I'm incredibly behind in comics. Ever since my birthday came and went, my levels of apathy and angst soared, leaving me bored, tired and lazy, regardless of amounts of pleasurable activity or sleep. Sorta like the teenage equivalent of a mid-life crisis. I think I've perked up now, and updates will again flow regularly.

March 28  ~  7:00 PM
Sorry for the late update, my internet connection was down for a while, thanks to our funky new wireless internet router. Also, our CD drives are incredibly stubborn; whenever a CD is in there, the CPU makes this loud, annoying hum until the CD is removed, which feels like it was just heated in a microwave, minus the lightning. It gives a whole new definition to the term "CD-burning."    In other news, my birthday is next week! Yay!

March 27  ~  7:00 PM
The wisdom page is up! And it has been for about a week. Also, a new (animated!) comic is up. I get the feeling that they're way more trouble than they're worth. On the upside, I'll soon add "Animated" to my comic description in the Keenspace Guide, now that one-eighth of my comics are... animated.
One more thing: WHY hasn't anyone signed my guestbook?!?

March 7  ~  9:00 PM
Some comics are just plain easier to make than others. The center text bubble has two origins to show that Ren is translating it. ... lessee, what else... (Looks down) Oops. Wisdom page coming when I get it off my family CPU!

March 7  ~  7:00 PM
There you have it, a brand-new, belated, 4-in-1 comic. Yeah, the color is slightly different in the 4th frame, but I chose the lesser of two evils. In my next update, I'll put up a page of Wisdom, chock full of thought-provoking mini-rants from geniuses and smart-alecks the world over!

March 5  ~  8:30 PM
Dangnabbit, I'm behind again. I'm really close to finishing the next animated comic, and I've ripped the backgrounds for the next part of the storyline. Hopefully, the darker BG's will make the text easier to read, for I am still too stubborn to give the speech bubbles a white BG like every other comic in the world. In the meantime, feel free to give feedback on ED in my new guestbook!

February 26  ~  2:30 PM
I'm catching up to myself as fast as I can. On the bright side, I have scripts written all the way up to #55. Schfifty-Five! Next comic is animated, and hopefully won't be as confusing as that 3-in-1 comic.

February 24  ~  2:00 PM

I'm proud of animated comic #3, but it'll probably throw off my hit counter because people keep refreshing the page to see it again instead of clicking Back and Forward. In other news, Gar tried his hand at animated GIFs yesterday, but I think I should help him make it loop. (Or not, he got it.)

February 9, 2004   8:00 PM EST
Whoops, I'm behind again. Bigger whoops, Keenspace went down for a while. No data was lost, just time. Now it's mostly fixed (major kudos to the all-volunteer Keenspace staff!) and I can update again. No comic yet, but I've given a major update to the cast page. Go there now, pilgrim!

January 29  ~  10:00 PM
New comic, finally caught up. Too tired to rant, will rant more tomorrow. Had hernia surgery today, the 8th surgery in my life. Another one is planned already to give me a bionic ear. All previous rants connect with the comic dated the week before each rant.

January 24  ~  7:00 PM
I should be cranking out new comics really easily by now, but I've been busy/lazy. I've also updated some earlier comics. The first comics won't look so fuzzy around the edges, the grass in the "outside" scenes looks more realistic (not just a recoloring of the indoor scenes.) Plus, the comic size and font is more uniform. Certain details are too much work to cram into certain comics, like the animated one.

January 17  ~  9:00 PM
I've finally got the hang of getting the colors and proportions right! It also means Ren is on her way to the spotlight! I won't be going back to the two-tone backgrounds for a long time. Don't ask how Alex can fit in the bucket. (Hint: it's maaagic.) He also spilled healing water on the table, which explains the repaired left side.

January 17  ~  1:00 PM
...And I declare this one my fastest work! If two seconds between frames for the other one is too fast, I'll consider slowing it down; animation is the easiest part.

January 17  ~  11:00 AM
Ok, I even surprised myself with this one. I think it's my best work so far. It's almost like three comics in one, assuming you read it right. I've got comics planned out to #40, I just have to crank them out. Obviously, my dialogue improves greatly between the first script and the final comic. In other news, (a.k.a. my personal life), I went binge videogaming yesterday. Five solid hours of Sphinx and Mario Kart. I call it "Nerdvana." At least now my mind is fuzzy enough to crank out the next comics without worrying too much about them being not funny or otherwise perfect. Kudos to Gar Molloy for the Blog!

January  ~  5:30 PM
Time marches on. So does the plot, which means the balance between the storyline and character development is way off-kilter. A few comics are big enough to keep viewers interested simply with repeating gags centered around conflicting character personalities, or something like that. (Bob and George?) Anyhoo, next comic is animated, you can guess how.

January 7  ~  9:00 PM
Wow, two comics in two days. I'm on a roll. Meanwhile, the old guy finally gets noticed. If the third panel doesn't make sense, put a 3-second pause between speech bubbles. Someday, I'll 'clean up' my old comics; the JPEGs look nasty.

January 6, 2004   3:30 PM EST
Happy New Year! I know I'm the only one who cares about following the calendar (hence the comic made today appears two months ago) but I gotta keep to my own schedule to keep motivated. I'll probably be up-to-date by mid-February. Unfortunately, consistency is more trouble than it's worth with the new snazzy backgrounds (also from FF6), so for the next few comics, don't whine if character proportions and/or colors change a lot. Coming soon: blog, buttons, and a guestbook!
